The new BCI Advanced Business Continuity Management Certification aims to provide a natural progression from the Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute (CBCI). It focuses on developing skills in assessing and determining business continuity requirements for organizations.

The certification combines leadership and management competencies with the technical professional practices necessary to implement business continuity across an organization. Additionally, it aims to enhance understanding of the factors that influence effective solutions and risk mitigation, while also emphasizing the effective use of management and leadership skills within the context of business continuity.

Participants who complete the course will also receive 40 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Pre-requisites

For delegates to attend the BCI’s new ABCM Cert Course, it is a prerequisite that the delegate has passed any version of the CBCI exam in the past.

A Pathway to AMBCI Membership

The Advanced Business Continuity Management Certification sits above the CBCI credential in the BCI pyramid. It is designed as a progression from CBCI, moving beyond foundational knowledge to advanced application, analysis, and strategic leadership in continuity management.

Importantly, ABCM Certification is aligned with the competencies expected at the Associate Member of the BCI (AMBCI) level. This means the course and assessment reflect the skills and professional standards associated with AMBCI membership, including the ability to apply Good Practice Guidelines in complex, real-world scenarios and lead continuity practices effectively.

By achieving ABCM Certification, professionals demonstrate the appropriate capabilities that allows them to apply directly for AMBCI membership.
